Bally's Las Vegas

Opening in 1973 as the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, the name was changed to Bally's in 1986 after being purchased by Bally Manufacturing, which made pinball machines. Caesars Entertainment gained ownership of Bally's and changed the name to Horseshoe in December 2022, in honor of Binion's Horseshoe on Fremont St. The Jubilee tower at Bally's was reassigned to the Paris resort, which is connected to Horseshoe by an indoor walkway & shopping area.

The entrance to Bally's was about a quarter mile from Las Vegas Blvd., and featured a moving walkway from the sidewalk to the building entrance that was surrounded by giant green neon rings at one time. The rings were later modified to change colors.

We thought the neon rings and pillars were one of the coolest sights in Las Vegas, but they were replaced by retail stores shortly before Bally's became the Horseshoe.
